Welcome to the homepage of the Royalty Theatre, Sunderland. Based in the north east of England, we are non-professional and staffed entirely by volunteers. Other than the support we receive from our play sponsors, our funding is entirely self-generated.

HIT EIGHTIES COMEDY GETS STUDIO REVIVAL

After a very successful staging of 'Privates on Parade' we now enter the mid-season break on the main stage, until May's production of 'Ancient Lights'. But there is still plenty of work going on as rehearsals are now under way for 'Bouncers', which is being staged next month in the Studio Theatre.

For those who may not have seen it, 'Bouncers' was written by acclaimed playwright John Godber and originally staged by Hull Truck Theatre Company. After several professional tours the play became available for amateurs and was on at the Royalty in May 1990.

Twenty years on it's time for a welcome revival for this fast-paced, no-holds barred comedy. Join us as we follow the lads and lasses out on the town, under the cynical gaze of Judd, Les, Ralph and Lucky Eric - the bouncers.

The show is directed by Gary Ward and runs from Wed April 14 to Sat 17, tickets are £6 (£5 for members of the Royalty Theatre); please note the play contains some strong language and adult themes.
