COMING MARCH 2008

Cooking with Elvis
by Lee Hall

May 19 - 24 2008

It's been almost 40 years since a leather clad Elvis thrilled TV audiences with his spectacular comeback on 3rd December 1968. 'Cooking With Elvis' by Lee Hall, is one of the North East theatre scene's best known plays; among his other successes are the 'Billy Elliot' screenplay and most recently 'The Pitmen Painters', which is currently in its final run at the Live Theatre in Newcastle before its transfer to the West End.

This highly-acclaimed show has gained worldwide popularity, mainly due to its hilarious and quirky script and heavy doses of Elvis hits. Set in the home of 15-year-old food obsessed Gill, her Mam and crippled Elvis impersonator Dad, the play depicts the family's struggle to deal with the aftermath of Dad's accident. To 'add a bit a spice into their lives' Mam's new boyfriend Stuart moves in…with bizarre consequences. With its surprise twists and turns, hilarious and poignant moments all mixed up with Elvis tunes this play is guaranteed to entertain.

If you have never been to the Royalty Theatre before, this play is the one to start with, the hugely talented cast will not disappoint….and the Elvis tunes will have you rocking in your seats until well after 'Elvis has left the building.'

Cooking With Elvis is Directed by Anna Snell and features.
