ACTING AUDITIONS

Brassed Off - Play Reading Monday 14th April at 730PM

There are various parts available

Male - 5 parts ranging in age from mid twenties to mid sixties

Female - 5 parts ranging in age from mid twenties to mid forties

There may also be various non-speaking roles.

Rehearsals will start at the end of April, the production dates are 23-28 June

ABOUT AUDITIONS

Throughout the year the theatre holds a series of play readings and open auditions, which give potential new members an opportunity to get involved on the acting side. Details of these will go on the website in good time, or you can call the Royalty any evening.

On arrival you will be asked to complete a form with your contact details and pose for your picture to be taken. You do not need to prepare any speech for the audition, the usual format features a mixture of scripted pieces alongside some basic improvisation. At pantomime auditions everyone will also be expected to so some singing, and possibly some basic dance steps.

Play readings generally comprise established members of the company alongside any newcomers and offer people the chance to read for specific parts.

Readings and auditions start at 7.30pm and are usually over sometime between 9pm and 9.30pm, depending on how many people are present.  There is no limit to the number of auditions or readings you attend, but you should be aware that we cannot guarantee acting parts to anyone, no matter how enthusiastic they are.

We do insist on a minimum age of 16 for acting auditions, anyone younger will be encouraged to try the youth theatre instead. However open play readings often feature characters younger than this; if this is the case, it will be made clear when the reading is advertised.
